Awesome singer!
8/7/7
Hey guys, I just learned of this awesome singer! Her name is Kate Miller-Heidke from ... ummm somewhere in the UK I think. Anyways, she's great and I wanted to share a song of hers I fell in love with :)
Who's a good daughter then?? lol
30/4/7
Hi all!
Well, I had a great day yesterday! I got the feeling from my mum that she was missing me so I thought I'd take her out for the day.
So, I took her window shopping at a nearby nursery, that's HUGE. She loves plants and then I got my dad to drive us to a lovely Nepalese restaurant in the city. From there I had bought tickets to go see Ed Byrne (I LOVE him! lol) and we had a fantastic time. Oh, and we went on a ferris wheel ride while waiting for my dad to come collect us hehehe. It was a great night, and she was all smiles. The whole thing was a total surprise - all she knew was that I had plans for her that evening (so she didn't make her own arrangements).
Did some exercise beforehand and a bit before I went to bed too. Got up this morn and did a Jillian Michaels DVD - like I promised my JC cons I would - and feeling good after a nice sweat. I also promised myself no TV and no computer before work today. It was such a soothing morning - I got my laundry done and the dishes and emptied the bins etc etc, very satisfying! No Dr Phil on today though - bit disappointing but maybe it was fate.
Have a great day!

Ok, I've sold out ...
1/4/7
Well, it's official - I have TOTALLY sold out. I always said I wouldn't lower myself to these depths but .. I have ....
I now have a Myspace.
I know! I know! But after speaking to a bunch of myspace converts on the weekend about the Friends list and things like that, I decided to take the plunge.
And here is what it looks like:
Now, now. Don't worry too much, it doesn't mean I'll be abandoning this site. I'll be here at missparkle.com waayyyyyy longer than the fad of Myspace will be. But, it's fun to catch up with some old friends from school - which I've already done! I only created the page around midnight last night and already I have 6 friends, all of whom I personally know. :)
I think it's because I'm completely depressed about hitting the next milestone this birthday and I just want to escape! Remember my youth! Is that so bad???? hehehe
Well, I'm at work and really should be doing some... have a great week. I'll check in next week when HOPEFULLY, I'll have accepted my new age....
Though I doubt it....

My Birthday is coming up!
25/3/7
Hi all,
Well of course the most exciting news this week is that my birthday is fast approaching! Getting a year older DEFINITELY isn't the most exciting part, but an excuse for going out with friends and having fun certainly is!
This year the invitations went out by email. If you haven't got one, please tell me. :) I wouldn't want you to miss out and I know sometimes email addresses change.
The plan is, this year to have a daytime celebration where a few littlies can come and a few littlies-at-heart hehe... and that's at Luna Park. The evening celebrations will continue at my fav Indian Restaurant. Yum!
If you can come, please let me know so we know to expect you to either - or both. If not, we'll definitely have to catch up again soon. :)
In other news, well, it all pails in comparison hahahaha... have a great week all and see you then!! Oh, did I mention the celebrations are to be held Saturday the 14th April?!

40 hour Drought - Who's With Me?
13/3/7
For many people, living with a small amount of water is an every day reality. ABC Local Radio has launched a nationwide community event to encourage people to experience what it's like to live with very little water.
The 40 Hour Drought challenges ABC Radio listeners to try living with just 40 litres of water over 40 hours. The average household uses well over 200 litres of water a day so trying to use just 40 is quite a feat.
Whether or not you successfully meet the challenge, we hope that by spending more time thinking about our water usage at home, we can better understand the value of water and some of the problems facing those who are living with serious water restrictions.
First up, I want to wish my sis a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Jessica, this is for you! Happy birthday to you... happy birthday to you... happy biiiiiirthday dear jeeeeeeeeessicaaaaa... happy biiiiiirthday to yooooooooooooou hehe *takes a bow* thank you, thank you
And something to keep you ticking over this week hehe:
Why Geeks and Nerds Are Worth It...
In the wide world of dating, there are many options. Do you go for the flashy guy with the smooth smile, or the dude in the corner typing away on his laptop? The following are reasons why I think my fellow females should pay more attention to the quiet geeks and nerds, and less attention to the flashy boys.
1.) While geeks and nerds may be awkward, they’re well-meaning 9 out of 10 times. That smooth dude with the sly grin and the spider hands? Wonder what HIS intentions are... plus, I’ve never had a geek guy not call me when he said he would. Score major points THERE.
2.) They’re useful. In this tech-savvy world, it’s great to have a b/f who can make your laptop, desktop, and just about anything else that plugs into a wall behave itself.
3.) They’re more romantic than they’re given credit for. Ok true, their idea of romance might be to make up a spiffy web-page with all the reasons why they love you, with links to pics of you and sonnets and such... but hey. It lasts longer than flowers, plus you can show your friends.
4.) Due to their neglected status, there are plenty to choose from. You like ‘em tall and slender? There are plenty of geeks/nerds who are. You like ‘em smaller with more meat on their bones? Got that too.
5.) They’ve got brains. Come on now, how can intelligence be a bad thing?
6.) Most are quite good at remembering dates. Like birthdates and such, especially if they know it’ll make you happy. Due again to their neglected status, they’re more attentive than guys who “have more options”. Plus, with all that down time without a steady girlfriend, they’ll likely have mental lists of all the things they’d love to do once they GOT a girlfriend.
7.) Sex. Yep. Sex. I’m not really familiar with this myself, but I’ve friends who’ve been intimate with geek guys and it’s raves all around. They say a virgin wrote the Kama Sutra... all that time thinking about sex, imagining sex, dreaming about sex, (they are male after all) coupled with a desire to make you happy? Use your imagination.
8.) They’re relatively low-maintenance. Most can be fueled on pizza, Twinkies and Mt Dew. No complicated dinners needed here, so if you’re not the best cook, eh. Can you order a pizza?
9.) Most frequent bars as often as slugs frequent salt mines. You won’t have to worry much about your geek guy getting his “groove” on with club hotties because, frankly, he’ll be too busy rooting around under his computer wondering where that spare cable went. You won’t have to worry about him flirting with other women because, 9 out of 10 times, he’ll zip right by them in a perfect b-line towards the nearest electronics store. I’ve seen this happen.
Me: “Eww. Victoria Secret’s Models... They’re so skinny. How is that feminine? You can see her ribs!”
Geek Guy: “ooooooo...”
Me: “Hey!” *notices he is staring lustfully towards the computer store*
Geek Guy: “What?”
Me: “Never mind...”
10.) Although he may not want to go to every outing with you, you can arrange swaps, as in, you’ll go to his Gamer Con dressed as an elf princess if he’ll take you to the ballet. Plus, if he doesn’t want to go someplace with you, you won’t have to worry much about what he’s up to. You’ll probably come home to find him asleep on his keyboard in a sea of Mt. Dew cans with code blinking from the screen. It’s ok. He’s used to this. Just toss a blanket over him and turn out the light.
11.) His friends aren’t jerks. I can’t stress this enough. You’ll more likely get “Omg! A GIRL!! Can I see?!” than “Hey hot stuff back that ass up here and let me get some grub on...” They’re awkward geeks too and will, 9 times out of 10, treat you with the utmost respect and, more than likely, a note of awe. A cute girl picked one of their clan to date? It could happen to them! Hope! Drag some of your single girlfriends over, open up a pack of Mt. Dew, crack open the DnD set and get working. Nothing impresses geek guys more than a girl who can hack-n-slash (well ok maybe if she can code... a geek can dream).
12.) They’re rarely if ever possessive. They trust you, so you can be yourself around them. You like to walk around the house in a ratty t-shirt for comfort? He won’t care. He does too! They won’t get pissy if you don’t wear make-up or don’t want to bother primping your hair. If you gain a few pounds, they won’t try their best to make you feel like crap.
13.) They’re usually very well educated. Physics majors and the like. See #5. You won’t have to listen to him blathering on about his car (ok maybe a little), he’ll have loads of other interesting things to talk about. Politics, world events, how much the chicken burgers down at the local place rock, so long as you douse them in hot sauce...
14.) You’ll almost never have to hear, “Yaw dawg whazzap!!” plop out of their mouths. Unless it’s in jest. They spell properly, use correct punctuation, and are able to tell the difference between the toilet and the floor. They almost never get “wasted”, so you won’t have to worry about coming home to find him and his friends passed out on the floor amidst a pile of beer bottles. Mt. Dew cans, perhaps...
15.) And the final reason why geeks and nerds make great boyfriends: They actually give a damn about you. Not how you look (though that’s a plus), not how skinny you are, not how much make-up you primp yourself up with, but they like you for you. That kind of thing lasts longer than “DAMN baby you got a fine a*se!!!” Believe me.
Goss!
11/2/7
OK, this week I've decided you've heard enough about me and my goss for quite some time, so ... it's time for an
Everyone else's Goss Update!!!
Now, let's see who gets targeted first! Hehehe.... ok, Benny it is! He always has something going on in his life!
First and foremost, his stalker comes to mind. It's a long, drawn out story that I wont detail on here but suffice to say, she's totally psycho, she's been harrassing him on and off for the best part of a month now and although having police mediate between them did stop her contacting him for nearly a week, it did eventually start up again. I don't know where this is going to go just yet but she has so far fit every major point raised in the ABCs article on stalkers - which is a bit freaky lol. Then I was advised this morning that a lovely guy he used to work with OD'd in his house last night and passed away.
Emma has officially extended her maternity leave from the hospital we work at together to work day shifts in Nursing Registry something-or-other (sorry!). Good luck Emma! Having a beautiful new baby changes your priorities I've been told. No more shopping at Highpoint for 5hrs, hey? lol....
Erin and I are off to the movies this week - I won a Buy-one-Get-one-Free card to Miss Potter. I'll write a brief review of it next week for ya, so you know whether or not to waste your time. Apparently I shouldn't waste my time on the movie Babel, I've been advised by Megan Spencer from JJJ. She's the 'word' when it comes to movies hehe ... but she's going on leave for 6 months! Did everyone else know that? Devastated! Oh, and to keep with the theme of today - goss on others - Megan Spencer actually made a doco on a lady named Sue Chuter who is an absolute wrestling fanatic and has been pretty much all her life. It's to be shown at Nova in April so I'll be off to that. Sue's psyched, she's been telling everyone about it!
What other news in there on other people ... my cousin is turning 21!! That's big news, I should have put this announcement up higher! Hehehehe... well I'll be working on the invitations tonight to get them at least resembling something attractive and the party will be held in March on the 23rd. I've drawn up the invitations already (aren't I a nice cousin?) so if you are a friend and haven't received yours yet, let us know!!
Sadly PWA retired itself in Dec just gone. No, it was nothing to do with being pressed for money or audience numbers suffering - quite the opposite actually! - it simply boils down to the owner being run ragged and wanting retirement. Since then, we've been going to see NAW. It's very different, but still lots of fun :) Check out their site for more info!
And that's about all the goss that's jumping out to me right now. If I think of anything else, I'll come back and update ... and only a teeny bit about me - I went to see a Kinesiologist on Wed and I'm still a bit mixed around from it. Thank goodness I have another appointment this Wed to get it all sorted out again! I'm definitely a believer now lol.
Have a great week all!
